Hey, readers I’m currently alone at school and writing this blog post from a very empty, sad, abandoned bench (don’t ask). This week has been so crazy because my head space has been through so many different things. But the only constant thing that's been keeping me going is this writing posts. So, thank you for reading (it helps me to not feel like I'm screaming so much into an empty void)! Now enough of me, let's get to it!

DevanOnDeck: Fashion, Made Simple

I follow quite a few men's fashion pages on Instagram, not gonna lie, but Devan's content is undefeated. He combines streetwear and formal wear to pull of a sophisticated and effortless look that I think all men aspire to achieve. His advice is simple yet effective and he's constantly keeping on top of fashion trends to decide which brands are the best and how we can get the best bang for our buck.

Not to mention, he's funny and his relationship with his wife (when he shows it) gives me hope that true love may actually exist. Devan is so much more than a fashion page on Instagram, he's an invested influencer with real value to add to the lives of his supporters. Clearly, he deserves a spot on my #BlackCreatorsSpotlight feature for #BlackHistoryMonth.

Social Media Mogul

Not only is Devan a style god but he's also versed in social media marketing. Making content as sick as his style is Devan's golden rule and he does a pretty damn good job if I do say so myself. He's all about influencer + audience engagement so between impromptu Q&A's on his Instagram stories, real life meet-up events and even allowing his audience to pick out outfits for him it's no surprise that Devan has close to 200k followers on Instagram and was recently featured in GQ magazine. He's making huge moves and especially in his niche I can probably count on one hand other black men who I see representing us so well.

Also, over on his YouTube channel, in addition to posting videos giving great fashion advice, he also has a series called DevanOnTech where he spills all his best secrets for curating amazing content, building an online brand and connecting meaningfully with your audience. I actually use a lot of tips from him and below I've linked a video of his that is like step #1 to beautiful Instagram stories for me. Get in on this.

Conclusion

When I think of other black men I look up to, in more ways than one, Devan definitely comes to mind. His work ethic, passion and style embody urbanity and finesse. For me, Devan is a motivator to work hard, consistently and to do it with a little style. If you didn't know about him before, you're welcome because your life is about to change.
