Giving books and novels to the family for Christmas gifts.

Your Mom (aka The Best Woman to Exist)

Book of Choice: Becoming by Michelle Obama

Honourable Mentions: Me Before you by Jojo Moyes, Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur

ree

What better way to celebrate the best woman you've ever known than to celebrate the best woman America's ever known? No, but seriously with age we grow and learn, Michelle Obama has truly exemplified that throughout her entire tenure of being in the public eye. She continues to conduct herself with grace, respect and an affinity for helping others. Allow your mom to bond and consolidate her own achievements as a mother with Michelle's most intimate project yet. I guarantee your mom will love Becoming, and that means she'll love you for getting it for her.

Your Dad (aka The Best Man to Exist)

Book of Choice: The Martian by Andy Weir

Honourable Mentions: Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, A High Loyalty by James Comey

ree

With your dad being so awesome, there are only so few courageous and brave acts left that he could possibly aspire to. Surviving on Mars alone with no way of getting home is one of them. The story told in 'The Martian' in addictive. It follows the gripping story of a man stranded on Mars with nothing but his ingenuity, wit and a insurmountable choice for life 'The Martian' is a book your dad will surely appreciate. It's mind boggling, interesting and surprisingly, funny. However, this was also made into a movie a while back so if he's already seen the movie, well, get him a mug instead (or you can pick one of the honourable mentions but the mug will do too).

(Available in Hardcover/Paperback/Kindle/Audible)

The Sibling You Love to Hate

Book of Choice: The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

Honourable Mentions: Dear, Martin by Nic Stone

ree

You know exactly what I'm talking about. You love your sibling but also they get on your nerves like no one else (even though tomorrow you'll be asking each other what y'all wanna eat for lunch). This particular choice was a bit hard but overall I ended up choosing 'The Hate U Give' not just because I think everyone currently living on this planet should read it, but also because it's a quick read that's fun but still thought-provoking. Everyone can appreciate this book and who knows, maybe after reading it your sibling will come out a changed person and you'll hate them a little less.

(Available in Hardcover/Kindle/Audible)

One can never have enough socks," said Dumbledore. "Another Christmas has come and gone and I didn't get a single pair. People will insist on giving me books. J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

The Problematic Aunt

Book of Choice: the sun and her flowers by rupi kaur

Honourable Mentions: The Witch Doesn't Burn In This One by Amanda Lovelace

ree

Chances are, your aunt is only problematic when y'all have dinner together. She doesn't usually have so much to say but something about that dinner table just gets her going, you know? Apart from all that, she's really nice. In fact, get her some rupi kaur to calm and relax her. rupi is known for her simple to understand yet impactful poetry so your aunt can take them in little doses and hopefully feel better (and less bitter) each time.

(Available in Paperback/Kindle)

The Laidback Uncle

Book of Choice: The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck by Mark Manson

Honourable Mentions:

ree

Chances are, you've heard of this book so its raw an unique take on self-care should come to no surprise to you. However, I think it takes a special type of person to appreciate such a book, someone who doesn't take himself too seriously yet still loves to make the most out of life. Cue, your laidback uncle. The perspectives in this novel are still worthy of aspiration but they don't present themselves of being far out of reach or designed for a specific type of person. Instead, it's a read everyone can comprehend and assess in order to apply to their own life. Your uncle will be flipping pages daily!

(Available in Hardcover/Kindle/Audible)

The Token Child

Book of Choice: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

Honourable Mentions: Let's Talk About Love by Claire Kann, The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chboski

ree

This one is for that family member that isn't that young anymore but to you guys they'll still be a baby. Yeah, this is their category. Look, there's absolutely nothing better for a budding teenager than a Cassanda Clare novel. Quote me on that. Cassandra Clare is currently the Queen of Young Adult/Paranormal fiction and she is strides ahead of the game. She has built a unique world that the 'Token Child' can explore as they get older and "City of Bones" is the starting point for all that. Cassandra Clare is this generations J.K. Rowling for many people because her characters are are young, vibrant, memorable and still riddled with flaws *cough* Clary *cough*. The perfect formula for a book series that you will remember for lifetimes.

(Available in Hardcover/Kindle/Paperback)

Your Favourite Cousin

Book of Choice: Children of Blook and Bone

Honourable Mentions:

ree

If this is truly your favourite cousin, then I'd suggest lending them a copy of your favourite book of all time. A good cousin is a gem and are so underappreciated so show them your love by giving them something that means a lot to you! But, if you can't decide, then I definitely recommend giving them the game-changing novel 'Children of Blood and Bone' by the great Tomi Adeyemi. You'v heard of this book, we all have, you've probably eve read it but the hype is substantiated. Tomi Adeyemi is changing Young Adult Fantasy, readers! Get your cousin on this crack ASAP (that was a joke, don't do drugs kids)!

(Available in Hardcover/Paperback/Kindle/Audible)
