The new year is really upon us, readers. It may not even seem like it but the moment Christmas is over we're facing the changeover to a brand new calendar of opportunities and lifestyle changes. The biggest of which are, as we all know, New Year's Resolutions.
Now, I'm not a huge fan of New Year's Resolutions just because of the connotations it has attached to it over the years. Instead of being all about renewal and change it sort of has ironically become synonymous to the opposites because people keep failing at their New Year's Resolutions. It's time to change that. In this blog post, I'm going to help you guys (and myself) to actually change our lives in 2019. The main way to do that is by starting right now. The New Year comes with lots of pressure and change so it's easy for everything to become overbearing really quickly. For that reason, starting now when everyone should be on break and feel a lot more relaxed is the perfect time to turn over a new leaf in our lives and take advantage of the seasonal ease.
For this list, I recommend to not do everything all at once, but instead take one task (preferably in order) and start with that for a few days then slowly begin to adapt the other tips. Now, let's get started.
Oh, where are my manners? Hey there, if you're new to my blog, welcome! To my constant readers, you guys already know how much I love you! Oh, and don't forget to tap that little heart icon so I can feel extra special! Alright now that that's out of the way, this is: Habits You Need to Make Before 2019.

1. Make an Appreciation List
I can't speak for anyone else, but when I wake up, I'm pretty much undead. It's horrific. So for the first few hours of the day I'm extremely unproductive, moody and overall unpleasant. Waking up like this can seriously affect your productivity level throughout the entire day and make you waste large amounts of time. We're not taking this into 2019.
Before you go to bed, it's a great idea to leave a book and a pen on your nightstand and when you wake up make a list of all the things you're appreciative for in that new day. It can be literally anything but try to keep it specific to that day and try to include something that you're excited for too. The list can be as simple as:

Thankful for:
My family
Michelle Obama
Netflix
Looking forward to:
Getting paid today
Meeting up with a friend
Reading a new book
By doing this, you're beginning each new day on a different energy of self-reflection, appreciation and happiness. It sounds a little corny but that's the exact type of energy that can influence your entire grind for the rest of that day. Plus, the act of physically writing all this down gets your motor skills working and helps you to wake up a lot faster.
"Infuse your life with action. Don't wait for it to happen. Make it happen. Make your own future." -Bradley Whitford
2. Create Daily

As a creator it's extremely important to hone your craft, especially in this age where everyone is trying their luck. The only way to separate yourself from the crowd is to practice daily because each time you'll get better. So, if you're a writer like me, work on that draft every day. If you're a photographer, go out and try to shoot something you normally wouldn't. If you're an artiste, draw. Whatever your specialized skill is, it's yours only and that means it's also your responsibility to hone and develop it to its best potential. Imagine how much better you'll become at the end of the year.
3. Wake Up & Sleep at Optimal Times
The last tip here is vital (well at least to me). Now, people always love to tell you that you should wake up at 6 a.m. every day to be the most productive, but that's not entirely true. Sure, waking up at 6 a.m. daily can be great but you don't need to do that to be productive. You could wake up at 6 and still be unproductive or fall back asleep. The most important thing is to take responsibility for your time and wake up at the most optimal time for you.

What this means is, if you know that you need to get up at 8 a.m. in order to get all of your tasks done, then go to bed at the appropriate time and actually get up at 8 a.m. Every day, know what is the best time that you need to get up in the morning taking into consideration how well you know your body and what you have to do and actually be awake at that time. When you do that, you're taking control of your life and working on your personally optimized clock.
