My Summer TBR List

Updated: Aug 11, 2019

After school has successfully drained every ounce of humanity from my bones, this summer I need a break. The plan is to just stay in and reconnect, readers. You feel me? Whether that be reading or writing this summer break I've just been making it a point of duty to stay busy drowning myself in writing.

And I know that you guys have a considerable amount of time on your hands as well so considering how relaxing it is to get a really nice summer read going I thought I'd share this list with you guys.

But before we get started, don't forget to subscribe and like this post for more content just like this! You know the drill: drop some comments below and tap that little heart button for me! Now, let's get started. Here's My Summer TBR List!

Burden To Bury

Burden to Bury, a Wattpad book

Synopsis

Wherein a man and his roommate find themselves putting up an eccentric teenage girl who endeavors to help the police solve crimes.

Can anyone really name a single thing that's better that a crime novel to blaze through on a hot summer day? Yeah, I thought so. @concussive is not only my friend but she is also the talent I aspire to be and when she announced that this was the book she's releasing for the summer, the excitement was warranted. So far only one chapter is published but @concussive promises that she'll update regularly. If she doesn't, well, that's what the pitchforks are for, right? I kid, I kid. But if you want an update ask nicely and be sure to tell her I sent you.

If you want a mystery thriller with new adult character dynamics Burden to Bury is your book.

The Spaces Between You

The Spaces Between You, a Wattpad book by k.s. lynch

Synopsis

Maya Kaito spent a year abroad trying to do the impossible: forget everything about Will Tucker. But now they're back in the same place, and remembering is the only thing she can do.

No matter how much it hurts.

So I only recently got into @bateaux but what a trip it's been. In all honesty, go ahead and click on her profile right now and you see all those works that she has? Yeah just throw them in your library. I'm that convinced. As of me writing this she's dropped seven chapters in total for The Spaces Between You and lemme tell you, your boi is invested. I normally don't do romance anymore (I say as I'm literally writing a new romance book) but she makes the genre feel fresh and real. For example, when I read this book my long dead and blackened heart actually beats and honestly if that's not a testimony to how good this book is then I don't know what is. The Spaces Between You tell the story of the aftermath and rekindling of a relationship but it also has flashbacks where we see the beginnings of of said relationship.

It's done so well and I highly recommend you all to give it a try if you're looking for an angsty love story this summer!

Creatures of the Night

Creatures of The Night, a Wattpad book by cloudedwithstories

Synopsis

Make your way home at five.

Nobody out past six.

Be in the tunnels as the sun begins to fall in the sky.

Bolt the doors as the sky turns an ember of pink.

These are the rules we must follow if we do not want to die.

After the sun falls, we are an abandoned village with roads pulled up from underneath. Because they rule the night, hiding in the shadows of trees and calling to their moon. And they cannot know about us or we will be killed.

From sunrise to sunset, we fulfill our duties - we hunt, cook and clean. Every day is the same, a routine that must be followed at the cost of our lives.

Because night is coming, and so are the creatures who rule it.

Now, I've only gotten halfway into the first chapter of this book but i'm already extremely intrigued. With that synopsis who wouldn't be? It's been a while since I read anything paranormal and I'm very excited to get back into that sort of universe again. However, it should be worth mentioning that this story is a part of the Paid Stories program so that means after Chapter 4 you do have to start paying with Wattpad coins but I mean, if you love a book support the author! Writing is hard work, especially if you're doing it without any compensation. Think about it, readers!

Creatures of The Night is for you paranormal lovers that are craving a cool and mysterious journey this summer!

The Art of White Roses

The Art of White Roses by Viviana Prado-Nunez

Synopsis

It is 1957 in Marianao, a suburb of Havana. Adela Santiago is 13 years old and lives in a small blue house with her mother, father, brother, and grandfather. And yet something is amiss. The students on her street are disappearing. Not only that but her parents' marriage seems to be disintegrating and her cousin is caught up in a bombing at the Hotel Nacional. Welcome to a world where a revolution is brewing. Welcome to Cuba.

As usual, you know we need at least one traditionally published book on these list because nothing beats the feeling of a physical book in your hands. It's literally therapeutic. But I actually had the pleasure of meeting Viviana when she came to Jamaica for a symposium-type event. She is an absolute joy in real life (she's also my age!) and when I heard her read a few pages of this book I literally stopped in my tracks. It. Is. Incredible. I will definitely be divulging into this book this summer especially because I want to be brushing up on Latino culture so I highly recommend you guys do the same as well!

If you're looking to experience a brand new history and culture given from the perspective of a troubled teenager, The Art of White Roses has your back!

Conclusion

Alright, enough me! Are you guys planning to pick up any of these books for your summer reading or do you already have a TBR? Let me know in the comments below and if you do have your own TBR list tell em what's on it because I'll literally be staying home every single day and I need the content. Don't forget to click the heart button too! It makes me smile!

Lastly, don't forget to follow me on Wattpad to read all my works and Twitter and Instagram where I occasionally rant, share music and discuss the pains of being a creator. Oh, also, I share sneak peeks of my novel and new blog posts at times too, if you're interested in that. Oh and I'm also working on my own summer book so stay tuned for that bad boy. It's gonn abe wild, that's for sure. Have a great weekend, readers!
